Amber Carmichael splits her time between her nursing career and community spirited acts of kindness. This life fulfils her; she has no interest in nightclubs or the men her friends tirelessly chase. The spark of attraction has never lit within her and of this, Amber is glad.

Until one day her dreams begin to shift; something deep in her subconscious begs to awaken.

This stirring within her attracts the attention of an enemy. An enemy she doesn't know exists; a threat she can't possibly hide from.

Because how do you hide from the one soul in the world who truly sees you?

A heart has to fall before it can soar.

The new release from Olivia Lockhart - forbidden love and enemies to lovers collide to form a perfect storm of paranormal romance that will leave you begging for the sequel.

'Liar' by Olivia Lockhart is now one of my all time favourite books. Not being dramatic over here, I'm in love with this novel. Paranormal romance is one that, if I'm honest, I barely touch, only because I don't know many authors who write it. Now I'm going to have to dangle my feet in all things angels vs demons, and all that shenanigans just to get my fill. (Olivia write this sequel...and now!) All that fantastic weird stuff combined but with no limitations. Isn't that what writing is all about? The ability to put all your words and spill them on to a page to create a masterpiece?

On this occasion, I didn't read the blurb before I started the book, only because I actually brought it myself based from the cover (that's how important the covers are folks). It reeled me in so I took a gamble on it. Olivia then bless her heart, sent me a gifted copy (which is currently running on a giveaway on my Twitter  page as of the 17/7/24).

The narrative was written beautifully as we follow Amber, a person driven to make others feel safe and loved, working in a hospice making those at the end of life comfortable. I adored her character, she was so innocent and hard working and all round adorable. She's also a virgin at the age of 25, to me that's admirable. You could feel the tension all the way through the writing, especially as the focus was Amber finding her true love and that longing to FEEL love. She was never actually interested until Ben came along...and then Mason, and oh my god. WHAT A TWIST.

I don't think you understand how hard it is to write this review without spilling my thoughts all over it, I have to contain myself. I just didn't expect it. When you think the narrative is going a certain way and then you were wrong. God damn Livvie, you wrote that so well.

A battle between good vs evil, angel vs demons, lust, pain and betrayal...a bit of me all that is.

I don't know how this book has not been picked up by traditional publishing because this book needs to just be launched at every single person walking down the street, I feel that this book was the one I never knew I was looking for and I finished it in ONE sitting. The spice in there was mild, but it was enough, it was so elegantly written I enjoyed it so much.

Oh, of course. I also cried.

"YOU'RE MY ONE ONLY LOVE, IN A THOUSAND LIFETIMES IN A THOUSAND WORLDS, AND THERE'D BE ONLY YOU"

It started off normal, your standard lovey romance book, girl meets boy, boy sweeps her off her feet, but this one BLOWS it into a highly different proportion. Dual POV'S always have a soft spot in my heart, the way you can read what's in each character's heads and get that perspective is a narrative that I really enjoy. Anwir is my new book boyfriend, I do have a lot of them now, not even sorry.

Spinning in and out of consciousness, dream states where memory flicks back and forth and not all is what it seemed. Humans who die, but their bodies are being taken over from others in a different plane. Ooooomf I'm smiling whilst writing this review. What shocked me the most in this novel is the fact it's not stuck to the typical tropes that you'd expect in a book, which is unique and damn addictive. I finished it in one sitting. I love Olivia's books, and the way she can dabble into different genres is outstanding, kudos to you Olivia. We need a sequel to this. I'm talking on behalf of everyone here, Anwir cannot come into my life and then just vanish like that...it's not happening.

There's a mix between loving and hating some of the characters, again I love that because the writing style and the plot keeps you hooked the whole way through, pulling you this way, then the other. The imagery of the wings as well were a top tier hit for me. I can imagine the write really focusing on the detail and the colours that depict the scene before her, which again. Tremendous.

The poems were also a fantastic touch. I'm obsessed and I think I'll always remember this book, might even go and read it again...

Forbidden romance, love that is eternal and bound. Get this book- You will not regret this for one second.
